IGUKA Management and Staff gathered on 3rd July 2026, for a formal handover ceremony at the university.
Dr. Catherine Promise Biira officially handed over the instruments of office to the Deputy Vice Chancellor of IGUKA. Her official date of leaving IGUKA will however be 31st July 2026, with the remaining days to be spent on her annual leave.
In her address, Dr. Biira expressed gratitude to Management, Staff, and partners for their support throughout her tenure. She reflected on IGUKA’s growth as a higher institution of learning, citing expanded academic programmes, strengthened governance, improved infrastructure, and a stronger institutional reputation. “Continue with the Motto: Inspire. Empower. Transform,” she told the gathering.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Tibelius AMUTUHAIRE, received the instruments of office and paid tribute to Dr. Biira for her hard work, commitment, and visionary leadership. He acknowledged her role in providing stability, guiding academic expansion, and investing in staff development, which has positioned IGUKA for the next phase of growth.
Dr. AMUTUHAIRE pledged to build on that foundation. He outlined his priorities as upholding academic excellence, driving institutional growth, promoting research and innovation, and consolidating IGUKA’s place as a leading center for higher education in Uganda.
Management and Staff witnessed the handover, and the ceremony closed with a vote of thanks and renewed commitment to IGUKA’s future.
