St. Ignatius University Kabale Raises UGX 217M at Assembly AGM and Endowment Fund Launch

KAMPALA — Promoters of St. Ignatius University Kabale raised UGX 217 million in cash and pledges on Friday, 31st July 2026 during the Assembly of Promoters Annual General Meeting and the official Launch of the Endowment Fund held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

The event brought together Church leaders, government officials, academia, and philanthropists in support of the Catholic university that was founded in 2024.

Presiding over the launch, Chancellor Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese, thanked donors for their generosity and called on the University Governing Council and Management to remain focused on the institution’s mission of transforming society. He urged the University to start programs that support people with less education and emphasized that mindset change is essential.

Representing Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa was Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuheire. She commended the Catholic Church and Bishop Rubaramira for the visionary leadership that led to the establishment of the University in 2024, and pledged government support for its growth.

Speaking on behalf of King Ceaser Mulenga, Interim Chairperson of the University Assembly, Mr. Norbert Kagoro appreciated donors for supporting the cause and emphasized the importance of the Endowment Fund in ensuring the University’s financial sustainability.

Prof. Nazarius Mbona Tumwesigye, Chairperson of the University Governing Council, also underscored the importance of the Endowment Fund in securing the long-term future of the University.

Organizers described the UGX 217M raised as “a strong foundation” and expressed optimism that more support will follow as awareness of the University’s mission grows.
