Head of Finance and Planning

Reports to:             Vice Chancellor

Duty Station:          Kabale

i.    Purpose of the job

 Head of Finance and Planning is to manage finances and head the planning unit of the University.

ii.   Minimum Qualifications The candidate must have:

a)    Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or in any other related courses from a recognized University.

b)    Professional qualification in either ACCA or CPA.

c)    At least five years of satisfactory service as Head of Accounts or Finance in a reputable organization.

d)    Must be a member of a relevant professional body,

 iii.        Duties and Responsibilities

The Head of Finance and Planning shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor and shall:

a)    Oversee the daily operations of the Finance Department.

b)    Be responsible for the financial planning and budget control of the University.

c)    Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.

d)    Prepare annual financial reports for audit.

e)    Keep correct records of monies due to the University from rents, fund raisings, donations, subsidies, legacies, grants, professional services, investments, endowments, fees, etc.

f)     Keep correct and accurate records of all assets and property (movable and immovable) of the University.

g)    Promote effective communication on financial/accounting matters among Units of the University.

h)    Be an ex-officio member of Council and Council Committees.

i)     Carry out any other function or duties assigned from time to time.

iv.        Tenure of Appointment

The successful candidate shall be employed on contract for three (3) years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.
