KABALE — St. Ignatius University Kabale Union Vice President, Her Excellence Tukamushaba Oscar, is undertaking her internship as a tour guide with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Tukamushaba, a Bachelor’s student in Tourism, Heritage and Leisure Management, is on site at Bwindi as part of her field placement. Day to day, she leads guided nature walks, conducts gorilla trekking briefings, and interprets the forest’s biodiversity for tourists.
During the internship, she works alongside UWA rangers handling visitor registration, safety briefings, and conservation education. She also supports community tourism initiatives around the park as part of her training requirements.

“I’m learning new things every day,” Tukamushaba said. “Being here at Bwindi as an intern tour guide helps me understand real challenges in tourism — from managing visitor expectations to explaining conservation in simple terms.”
