The Vice President of Uganda, Maj (Rtd) Jesca Alupo, is expected to attend the event as the Chief Guest. The ceremony will take place at the university grounds at Rushoroza Cell, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, Kabale District.
Ahead of the function, Msgr. Dr. John Vianney Sunday, Vicar General of Kabale Diocese, explained that the university aims at addressing societal challenges, such as extreme poverty.
Msgr. Vianney highlighted that the university focuses on hands-on projects in its courses, allowing students to transform their lives and become role models in resource management and financial transformation.
Rev. Fr. Assoc. Prof. Maximiano Ngabirano, the University Vice Chancellor, added that the university seeks to provide quality education at an affordable cost.
He noted, “Not everyone who attends university receives a comprehensive education, and Kabale Diocese is committed to offering affordable, high-quality education.” He emphasized the importance of this initiative in the Kigezi region, which faces issues such as overpopulation, less productive soils, and high levels of poverty.
The university aims at promoting financial literacy and self-employment opportunities to address the issue of youth seeking jobs abroad.
Currently, the university has 170 students enrolled, following its acquisition of an operational license as a private institution on August 31, 2023.
It opened for its first semester on January 8, 2024.
Dr. Catherine Promise Billa, the University Secretary, stated that the university welcomes students from all religious backgrounds, with ethics being a core component of its curriculum.
