Kabale, 27th September 2026 – St. Ignatius University Kabale (IGUKA) has made history at the Kabale District Guild Leaders Association (KDGLA) Games.
For the first time, IGUKA participated in the tournament held from 25th to 27th September, 2026, fielding teams in Football, Volleyball, and Netball. In a remarkable performance, none of our teams was eliminated at the group stages, with the football team advancing to the semi-finals against Kabale University.
Leaders Applaud Teams’ Courage
The IGUKA Pioneer Union President, H.E Merrick Akansasira, appreciated the teams for their good spirit and fighting hard. He said he is convinced that the teams will do even much better in the next competitions. He also thanked the University Administration for the support rendered to the teams.
Speaking to our communications office, the Pioneer Secretary for Sports, Hon. Mary Namara, expressed her
happiness, noting that in her tenure as the pioneer Secretary for Sports, the sportsmen and women have shown great courage and are very promising.
The University Sports Tutor, Mr. Tumukunde, also expressed his gratitude to the Union leaders, the University administration, and all the sportsmen and women for the commitment shown. He added that he is convinced they will perform even better next time.

We are so grateful for our university to allow us participate in the Kabale district Guild leaders Associations.
We really thank our administrators for allowing this happen and my fellow students for showing up ready to participate in these games.
It’s me who only missed and next time, l will try my level best.

It was really amazing to participate in the competitions. The teams i.e volleyball, football and netball teams were so self-driven to showcase their talents and also put the mighty IGUKA on map.
