Head teachers of Catholic post-primary schools gathered to share progress and chart the way forward for their institutions. The meeting was graced by Fr. Fidelis Ndajijimana, Pastoral Coordinator of Kabale Diocese, who served as Guest of Honor. In his address, Fr. Ndajijimana lauded the head teachers for their “tireless dedication” to developing schools and shaping future leaders. “Your sacrifice is transforming communities,” he said. “Do not relax in this noble mission, and always put God first in all you do.”

Diocesan Education Secretary, Mr. Byamukama Remegio, rallied school leaders to fully embrace the competence-based curriculum, describing it as “the way forward for equipping learners with skills for the modern world.” He noted that Catholic schools in the diocese are well-positioned to lead in quality and values-based education.

Adding to the momentum, IGUKA Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ainomuhangi Josephat, reminded head teachers that the students they nurture in secondary school must advance to higher education. “We are fortunate that IGUKA is already in place and training students exceptionally well,” he said, highlighting the university’s motto: Inspire, Empower, Transform.

Mr. Ainomuhangi reported that the university, which opened with 48 students on 8th January 2024, has grown to an enrollment of 309 students as of 11th June 2026. He further noted that IGUKA now has students who have completed their final exams and are awaiting graduation in 2027. He expressed gratitude to head teachers who have already employed IGUKA students and trainees as science lab attendants, technicians, and staff in agriculture and catering services. “Do not get tired of promoting the university,” he urged. “It is our shared future.”

Chairing the meeting was Mr. Katongore Kereson, ACEI Kabale Diocese Chairperson, Headteacher of St. Paul’s Bukinda SS, and member of the IGUKA Governing Council. He echoed the call for unity, encouraging head teachers to champion their own schools while also supporting the growth of IGUKA as a flagship institution for the diocese. “When we lift IGUKA, we lift Catholic education as a whole,” he emphasized.

The meeting ended on a high note, with head teachers reaffirming their commitment to collaboration, innovation, and faith-driven service in education.
