On April 1, 2026, IGUKA Chancellor, Rt. Rev. Bishop Callist Rubaramira, emphasized the importance of skills and entrepreneurship, particularly in commercial agriculture, when he hosted Dr. Tibelius Amutuheire, the newly appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, along with Vice Chancellor Rev. Fr. Prof. Maximiano Ngabirano and other IGUKA management officials. “Equipping students with practical skills is key to driving economic growth,” Bishop Rubaramira stressed.
Bishop Rubaramira, installed as IGUKA’s inaugural Chancellor on August 24, 2024, highlighted the need to transform people by teaching them to utilize limited land resources effectively. IGUKA’s programs focus on increasing commercialization and competitiveness in agriculture and tourism, providing students with technical-practical business skills.
Later that day, Dr. Amutuheire met with the Vicar General of Kabale Diocese and a member of the University Governing Council, Msgr. Dr. John Vianney Sunday, who encouraged him to be a team leader and work towards achieving goals as a team. Dr. Amutuheire, welcomed by Rev. Fr. Prof. Ngabirano, vowed to work hand in hand with University leadership to make IGUKA a national and regional champion in education, focusing on stakeholder engagement and the university’s vision and mission.
