Science Laboratory Technology Students Demonstrate Practical Skills in Making Reusable Sanitary Pads

Kabale, Uganda | 19 October 2026

Students pursuing a Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology at St. Ignatius University Kabale (IGUKA) demonstrated their practical skills by successfully making reusable sanitary pads during a hands-on learning activity held on Monday, 19 October 2026, under the guidance of Mr. Igga Swaleh.

The activity provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and develop practical skills through hands-on experience. By making reusable sanitary pads, the students explored a practical solution that can contribute to menstrual hygiene management while promoting the use of reusable materials.

The initiative reflects the principles of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), which emphasizes practical learning, skills development, creativity, and the application of knowledge to real-life situations.

Beyond the classroom, such activities encourage students to become innovative problem-solvers who can use their acquired skills to respond to community needs. Reusable sanitary pads, when properly made, cleaned, dried, and maintained, can offer a sustainable menstrual hygiene option.

Through practical learning experiences like this, IGUKA continues to support skills-based education that empowers learners with relevant competencies for their future careers and community engagement.
