i. Purpose of the job
The Accountant is to assist Head of finance and planning to manage University accounts and finances. ii. Minimum Qualifications The candidate must have: a) Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or in any other related courses from a recognized University. b) At least Level 3 of the Professional course (either ACCA or CPA). c) At least five years of experience as senior accounts assistant in a reputable Institution. d) Conversant with accounting soft wares such as Quick Books, Tally. e) Experience in designing and delivering finance policies and systems. f) Experience in analyzing financial data and communicating the analyzed data to non-finance staff. iii. Duties and Responsibilities The Accountant shall report to the Head of Finance and Planning and shall: a) Manage monthly revenues. b) Compile monthly financial reports for Management. c) Prepare all payments for approval by the Head of Finance and Planning in accordance with the budget and laid down finance management procedures. d) Assist in the budgeting process of the University and manage the approved budget. e) Manage monthly payroll processes prior to disbursement. f) Disburse University funds against approved vouchers. g) Ensure that all financial obligations and statutory requirements are fulfilled, including reporting requirements to funding partners, Donors and Stakeholders. h) Ensure implementation and adherence to internal controls. i) Participate in project proposal writing i.e. design / review project budgets. j) Carry out any other function or duties assigned from time to time. iv. Tenure of Appointment The successful candidate shall be employed on contract for three (3) years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance. |
